Board Retreats? Yes!
But only if they are well-planned, well-attended, and well-facilitated.
A well-planned, well-attended, and well-facilitated retreat is perhaps the best way to address some of the more challenging issues facing a board and the organization it governs. In an effort to strengthen the policies, procedures, plans, and programs provided by nonprofit organizations, Sarkeys Foundation wishes to make available the opportunity for organizations to have meaningful and beneficial board retreats.
In order to assist nonprofit agencies with the expenses often involved with a productive board retreat, a limited amount of funding is available through Sarkeys Foundation. Requests up to $2,500 will be accepted. To apply, complete the following form and the required attachments. The proposals will be reviewed and a response will be provided as expeditiously as possible.
Facilitators for the retreat must be selected from an approved list. Please call 405.364.3703 and speak with Susan Frantz prior to scheduling your board retreat regarding facilitator selection. Final facilitator selection and contract negotiation is the responsibility of the grantee.
Since board retreats are only fruitful if they are well attended, the successful applicants will be required to guarantee that 75% of the agency’s board members will be present for the complete retreat. The duration of a board retreat must be a minimum of six working hours (breaks and meals NOT included in the six hours). If the agency is unable to fulfill these obligations, the grant will be considered void and funding will not be provided.
Use of the Sarkeys Foundation space is free of charge if scheduling permits and a grant is awarded. If you wish to use the facility, it is your responsibility to schedule the room.
Your application must be completed using the provided form. Please print the finished application form and mail it along with the required attachments to:
